The Accademia Italiana is an international design Institute with headquarters in Florence and in Rome, Italy. Founded in 1984 the Accademia was the first Florentine school of art, fashion and design operating on an international level, accepting students from all over the world and from every region in Italy. Today it ranks as one of the most qualified European Institutes of artistic and professional training. Graduates of the Accademia Italiana are currently covering important roles in industries or have received substantial recognition in their professional field.
A new department of theatre and cinema arts have recently been added to the Rome headquarters to complete the offers of the departments of art, fashion and design, historically present at the Florence headquarters.
From the very foundation of the Accademia Italiana certain particular characteristics were evident: these concerned both the logistic and the structural sphere and the choice of academic and formative direction. The fundamental choices were those concerning the international atmosphere, the interaction between disciplines and the osmosis between the artistic and manual experience (the Florentine artisan workshop) and the new possibilities offered by the most evolved technologies. These specific characteristics have remained unchanged, even though in the last few years there have been various innovations caused by the transformation in informational and communication systems and by the rapid development of new technology with the consequent updating undertaken in the academic area. The Accademia Italiana, in fact, has constantly updated its academic programs in order to offer a high quality professional preparation which is appreciated world-wide by industries in the field as well as by academic institutions.
